SYM ADX TG 400 2026: Road Test, Review, Pros, Cons, Performance, Top Speed – Everything You (Really) Need to Know Before Buying
SYM ADX TG 400 2026 Test: Build Quality
The 2026 SYM ADX TG 400 scooter is well-made, with high build quality and attention to detail. It lacks nothing that you actually need, such as various storage compartments, keyless entry, complete instrumentation, a USB port, and other details. It also features that "off-road" look. The paintwork is more than good. Nothing negative to report; it is an excellent scooter, complete, and of excellent overall quality relative to its list price.
SYM ADX TG 400 2026 Test: Ergonomics and Ride Comfort
Ride comfort, both solo and with a passenger, is more than valid. The space for two people is good, with sufficient room for both. The rider's position is absolutely excellent, while the passenger's is slightly more restricted, but overall we are at a very high level. Aerodynamic protection is excellent up to top speed. Controls are easy to reach, and the instrumentation is complete and easily readable. Some readouts could be larger. The seat is very comfortable, but not very low to the ground; combined with the overall weight, it requires some attention during stationary maneuvers. The rear shock absorbers are well-calibrated. Vibrations are just barely noticeable, but not annoying. The various compartments are practical, and the under-seat storage is spacious. Overall, ride comfort and practicality are more than good; it is an excellent product.
SYM ADX TG 400 2026 Test: Suspension
The fork has a good calibration—not too soft—ensuring good stability at speed and valid comfort on rough surfaces. It is well-tuned for the type of scooter, which can also be used for off-road riding. The rear shock absorbers have an identical or near-identical calibration, perhaps just slightly stiffer due to the inertia of the engine unit, but overall they are well-matched to the fork. Both components are in line with the scooter's price and its intended use: urban commuting and occasional extra-urban trips, without shunning some simple off-road paths.
SYM ADX TG 400 2026 Test: Braking and ABS
The scooter has good braking, with contained stopping distances and an excellent setup. The pressure to apply to the lever is average for a scooter, meaning that to get powerful deceleration, you have to pull hard. The ABS intervenes only when you want it to or when it is really necessary, as does the traction control. It does not set records for stopping distances, but it remains a very safe scooter. Nothing really to report; it is perfectly in line with the average mid-displacement scooter.
SYM ADX TG 400 2026 Test: Engine, Performance, Top Speed
The engine of the 2026 SYM ADX TG 400 is a novelty; with an actual displacement of about 399cc, it fears no comparison with other similar single-cylinders regarding maximum performance and riding pleasure. It starts and reaches operating temperature easily and is mechanically quiet. Perfect for performance in city use, it also proves valid for extra-urban transfers, where its cruising speed is very valid and competitive. You can travel comfortably at 110 km/h with a good power reserve for easy overtaking. On twisty roads with speeds between 60 and 110 km/h, it is very effective and fun. You only find yourself in difficulty where speeds exceed 130 km/h. The top speed we reached is about 150 km/h indicated on the speedometer, but under favorable conditions, you can even exceed that figure, brushing against 160 km/h. Excellent performance for this type of scooter. In reality, you easily reach 130 km/h. In this case, too, its performance is competitive against the main and most established competitors. It is worth noting that stability at speed is excellent.
SYM ADX TG 400 2026 Test: Variator, Problems, Functionality
The transmission and variator work perfectly, with a fairly sporty character during the transition between deceleration and full throttle opening. With a little experience, you can manage everything very easily and appreciate the scooter's acceleration characteristics. A good product from a sporting perspective.
SYM ADX TG 400 2026 Test: Handling, Stability, and Safety
Like other "off-road" scooters, in reality, the actual off-road capabilities of the scooter are limited to dirt roads and not much else, but always extremely easily. You could dare a bit more, but it is not the right vehicle for it, and you would do more damage than anything else. However, you can venture onto dirt roads, small lanes, and paths with good satisfaction. It is not an enduro bike, but it allows you to reach places you could not reach with a normal scooter. It is an excellent scooter in the city and in urban traffic, where ease of control and safety are not lacking. It is an excellent vehicle for real urban commuting; it is practical and easy to use, only slightly heavy in stationary maneuvers and a bit bulky, but all within the average of its competitors. On damaged asphalt, it remains easily controllable, and safety is never compromised. Riding on extra-urban roads is very rewarding because the scooter is easy to ride, fun, agile, and has valid general performance. Riding remains effective even two-up, where you appreciate the power and general performance of the new engine. The turning radius is excellent. Overall, a very effective scooter, agile, with valid stability and excellent dynamic performance. It is used with satisfaction in the city, but it also manages to entertain outside it. In general, it is a valid product and not inferior to direct competitors that cost more.
SYM ADX TG 400 2026 Test: Fuel Consumption
In our test, we had an average consumption of about 24 km/liter, with peaks of over 26 km/l and a minimum of 20 km/l. Getting 28 km/l is difficult. Overall, consumption is aligned with competitors and, in fact, similar to the previous 300cc model.
SYM ADX TG 400 2026 Test: Conclusions, Pros, and Cons
The 2026 SYM ADX TG 400 scooter has proven to be very valid, of undoubted personality, and fully hits its targets. Practical to use in the city, it is also fun on extra-urban trips. Off-roading is limited to some dirt roads or easy trails. For the city, it is very complete, but it also allows for effective use on extra-urban routes, two-up, and for long-range touring. Braking and overall quality are good. A valid product, really well-made, and it does not fear comparison with competitors. The price is very competitive, and the general quality-to-price ratio is excellent.
