2,000 km of tough testing without a hitch: the CFMOTO 675 SR-R challenges the Japanese at under €8,000. The unfiltered test of real pros and flaws.

THE SUMMARY IN 3 LINES (For Those in a Hurry)

The Durability Test: We hammered it for 2,000 kilometers through hairpins and extreme riding without registering the slightest mechanical hesitation.

The Price Factor: Featuring a 90 hp triple-cylinder engine and real suspension for under €8,000, it redefines market parameters.

What Needs Improvement: The electronics (ABS and traction control) are still too intrusive when you push really hard, and the dealer service network still needs to grow.

If you own a Japanese middleweight sports bike that cost you €13,000, you would do well not to look too closely at the new CFMOTO 675 SR-R. Because while historical price lists continue to skyrocket, this Chinese triple arrives on the market with an introductory price tag under €8,000 turnkey and a promise that makes traditional dealerships tremble.

Bar talk, however, is cheap. To figure out whether it's a bluff or the breakthrough of the year, we grabbed one, tossed it into traffic, and made it scream across mountain passes for nearly 2,000 kilometers of intensive testing. No favoritism filters: here is what we genuinely loved and where the project shows its limits.

1. The 2,000 km Test Bench: Does the Mechanics Hold Up?

The primary fear for anyone approaching an emerging brand concerns early reliability. The answer delivered by the road is clear: after 2,000 km of fierce usage, continuous gear shifting, and summer temperatures, the powerplant did not emit a single creak, demonstrating flawless mechanical and electronic reliability.

Build Quality: The frame sports clean welds, the fairings are assembled with precise tolerances, and the visual impact is dominated by a modern, super-connected TFT display that wouldn't look out of place on a higher-category motorcycle.

In the Saddle: The clip-ons are low (this is a true sports bike, not a pseudo-tourer), but the seat is intelligently contoured, allowing even riders standing 1.70 m (approx. 5'7") tall to plant their feet on the ground without drama. And the vibrations from the triple? Practically non-existent.

2. The Three-Cylinder Engine: 90 HP That Knows How to Command Respect

The heart of the motorcycle is an unprecedented 675 cc unit delivering a robust mid-range power delivery. You don't need to wring its neck at the redline to rocket out of hairpins: the thrust is full and vigorous.

Performance: Touching 220–230 km/h (approx. 135–143 mph) is child's play, and the high-rpm sound features a tone that turns motorcyclists' heads as you ride by.

At the Pump: Riding intelligently in mixed environments nets a comfortable 18–22 km/l (approx. 42–52 mpg US), while pushing it hard in sport mode drops the average below 15 km/l (approx. 35 mpg US).

3. The Real Surprise: Suspension That Isn't "Fake"

At this price point, you expect cardboard components. Instead, CFMOTO has planted a fully adjustable upside-down fork and a monoshock on a progressive linkage.

The Treat: The clickers actually work—you can alter the hydraulic behavior and tailor the bike to your weight and style. Agility in rapid direction changes is disarming, thanks to a well-judged center of gravity.

4. Where the Bike Falls Short: Real Flaws Emerging from the Test

Being honest means sharing what doesn't work. Here are the three hurdles that emerged during our 2,000 km run:

The "Cowardly" Electronics: When you start pushing hard at the limit on imperfect asphalt, the intervention of the ABS and traction control proves overly conservative and hasty, cutting power abruptly.

Dealer Network and Support: The availability of spare parts and the experience of authorized workshops are not yet at the widespread level of Honda or Yamaha.

Physical Toll: After 200 km of state roads, the pure supersport riding position presents its bill to your wrists and back.

THE CRAZYWHEELS.IT UNFILTERED VERDICT: Is It Worth Buying?

“The CFMOTO 675 SR-R is proof positive that the market is changing. Taking home such an entertaining three-cylinder engine with adjustable suspension and brazen chassis dynamics for under €8,000 is a colossal bargain. Our 2,000 km extreme test wiped away doubts regarding reliability: if you accept electronics that are at times overly timid and a dealer network that is still young, it is the commercial earthquake of the year.”
