Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025: Build Quality Review
There are no qualitative differences between the "base," "S," and "Wind Tunnel" versions. The build quality is exceptionally high across the board; everything is impeccably crafted. The instrumentation is comprehensive, controls are easy and intuitive, levers operate smoothly, assembly is precise, and the paintwork is flawless.
The engine and shaft drive are meticulously made, featuring high-quality components with no compromises. Plastics are well-engineered and securely fastened, with no reliance on velcro, tricky interlocking pieces, or rubber buttons – common cost-cutting measures found in competitors. The overall quality extends to the excellent assembly of every component, with certain elements of absolute prestige, such as the beautiful shaft drive, top-tier electronics, and Brembo brakes, brake pumps, and clutch.
Notably, the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel version comes standard with Öhlins semi-active suspension, a quick shifter, and smartphone connectivity. While some accessories come at a premium, others are competitively priced. Overall, the bike offers excellent value for money.
Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025: Ergonomics and Riding Comfort Review
As a sport-touring bike, the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025 provides excellent riding comfort for both rider and passenger. The seat is superb, the riding position features a slight, but not excessive, forward lean, footpegs are well-spaced, controls are intuitive and easy to operate, the clutch is incredibly light, and the instrumentation is comprehensive and clear in all conditions.
Aerodynamic protection is effective but leaves the shoulders and arms exposed, though the windscreen is height-adjustable. For a 170cm rider, it's more than sufficient; taller riders can opt for a taller windscreen from the accessories catalog for long journeys. The passenger is even better accommodated, with a comfortable seat, ample grab handles, zero vibrations, and excellent aerodynamic protection (especially with the windscreen in the high position), making it a top-tier bike in its class for pillion comfort.
The adaptive aerodynamics perform their function, most noticeably at medium to high speeds, where the action of the side wings effectively reduces wind pressure on the rider's sides. The electrically adjustable windscreen, which also syncs automatically with the side wings, further enhances riding comfort. Vibrations are absent, the shaft drive's torque reaction is gone, and the gear shifting is quiet. Heat from the engine is barely noticeable.
Furthermore, the semi-active suspension allows for on-the-fly customization of the setup, providing a perfect configuration for your comfort needs in seconds. Overall, the bike offers very high comfort; it's top-tier if considered a roadster and highly commendable as a sport-touring machine.
Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025: Suspension Review
The primary and fundamental difference between the Base, S, and Wind Tunnel versions lies precisely in the Öhlins semi-active suspension, well-known for its adoption on other competitor motorcycles. Their tuning is perfect, and the default settings are already excellent.
The suspension calibration automatically adjusts according to the selected riding mode, but it can also be further customized and saved. There's nothing to report here; these are among the best products available on production motorcycles today. Both the fork and the shock absorber perform flawlessly, and their customization allows you to change the bike's character from a relaxed touring roadster to a true street-sport machine. It's impossible to ask for more, at least on a bike with a high, but still "human," price point.
Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025: Braking and Traction Control Review
Another area where the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025 performs exceptionally well. It lacks semi-integrated braking, which would have been the absolute top, but otherwise, the power, modulation, and low lever effort are among the best in its category. The ABS intervention is also excellent and programmable. Similarly effective is the engine braking, which almost negates the need for the rear brake.
The traction control is equally valid and programmable across different levels. Therefore, there's nothing to fault; the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025 stands, in this regard, on par with the best offerings in the sector, far superior to Japanese proposals, and on par with the best European alternatives.
Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025: Engine Performance and Top Speed Review
The Moto Guzzi V100 engine is identical across all V100 versions. It's an advanced engine in terms of technology and overall performance. The choice to have "only 115 horsepower" is deliberate, but with a torque delivery and mid-range thrust that are absolutely competitive with the best bikes in the sector.
It has an engaging sound, revs up quickly, with significant low and mid-range pull and good high-end extension, revving up to almost 9000 rpm. There's no need to push every gear to the limiter; the high torque and correct final gearing lead to very brilliant and competitive performance, almost unexpected for its power output. In fact, for the same declared horsepower, it's considerably livelier and faster than its direct competitors.
The consistently available torque, smooth operation, and immediate throttle response make it an excellent engine overall. The short gear ratios further enhance general performance.
The top speed of the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025 is approximately 225 km/h (140 mph), which is achieved with relative ease. Perhaps a taller sixth gear might have improved the top speed, but this setup prioritizes performance on winding roads and throttle response in every situation, such as highway overtakes, where you quickly find yourself well above the legal limit.
Also noteworthy is the engine's perfect response to every subtle throttle movement; the on/off effect is absent, and the default settings of the available maps are perfect, further customizable via the onboard instrumentation. It's a truly excellent engine in absolute terms and competitive against other 900-1000cc units.
Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025: Gearbox and Functionality Review
The gearbox and shaft drive are two more perfectly tuned elements. The shaft drive, in addition to ensuring virtually no maintenance, is quiet, smooth, and never abrupt in its reactions.
The gearbox is equally positive; already excellent in the "base" version, here it becomes even faster and more precise, thanks to the quick shifter, which allows for even quicker accelerations without power drops. It's extremely precise, fast, with short throws—an excellent gearbox for both touring and sporty use. Finding neutral is easy. The hydraulically controlled clutch is soft and effective.
However, even in this version, the slight lurch forward when engaging first gear persists. In absolute terms, there's also a certain noise and roughness from the gearbox. It's not a Japanese gearbox, and recent modifications have only brought minimal improvements. According to many, it's the bike's weak link, while others find it works well. You need to get used to its reactions; it's not a perfect gearbox or a benchmark, but it's nothing like the Guzzis of the past.
Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025: Handling, Stability, and Safety Review
The chassis tuning of the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025 is truly exemplary, on par with the Base version. It's a precise and easy-to-ride bike for touring or city use, but also very effective for sporty road riding, especially in mountains and on winding roads.
The steering is slightly light at high speeds, but never imprecise or difficult to control. It's not demanding to ride in crosswinds and minimally affected by truck slipstreams. In the city, it handles wonderfully, making it an excellent bike for urban commuting, even if it's clearly "overqualified" for such use. On the highway, especially with the windscreen in the high position and adaptive wings open, it's easy and relaxed to ride; long journeys are perfectly feasible even two-up in absolute comfort.
But the real fun is on winding roads, where the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025 showcases a perfectly tuned chassis: fast into corners, precise on lines, quick in changes of direction, very stable under braking, with excellent traction out of corners. The frame and chassis perfectly enhance the V100 engine's torque and generosity, delivering completely unexpected performance.
It's a very competitive bike in terms of performance, both in the mountains and on twisty roads. The riding precision in high-speed sweeping corners is equally commendable. It's a very versatile bike, always fun and effective, excellent for two-up touring with luggage, yet also exhilarating for sporty riding on winding roads. The semi-active suspension always allows for the perfect setup for every use, further enhancing the bike's overall excellence.
Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025: Fuel Consumption Review
In our test, we observed an average fuel consumption of approximately 19 km/liter (44.7 MPG US). This can go up to 24 km/liter (56.5 MPG US) when riding gently, while fully exploiting the engine brings it down to 15 km/liter (35.3 MPG US). These are nonetheless excellent values.
Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025: Conclusions, Pros, and Cons
The Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025 did not disappoint expectations and proves to be the perfect complement to the Base version and a valid alternative to the "S" version. Compared to the "base" version, it costs more and performs similarly, but it offers an even better technological level, which in certain circumstances genuinely makes it superior.
The semi-active suspension ensures the bike always has an optimal setup, whether riding in the city, touring, or engaging in spirited riding. Certainly, they are an indispensable plus; the base version itself is already excellent, but here we go even further. If you always ride consistently, the base version is perfectly fine, but if you like to switch from calm, relaxed riding to a sportier style, then the semi-active suspension helps significantly because you can change the bike's setup with a click.
The quick shifter is also excellent, another feature whose benefits are only fully appreciated during sporty riding. Given these differences, if the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello is an excellent bike, the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2025 is even more so. It's a true 360-degree motorcycle: fast, comfortable, equally at home touring two-up with luggage or for sporty riding on twisty roads. It's one of the best street sport bikes overall, almost a unique motorcycle given its technical characteristics.
