New Triumph Thruxton 400: The Classic Café Racer Revolutionizing the Entry-Level Segment in 2025

The arrival of the new Triumph Thruxton 400 in brand dealerships is now a matter of days. The latest spy photos of the model, captured in what appears to be its final production version during a commercial shoot, confirm this anticipation. The Triumph Thruxton 400, a classic Café Racer with a modern twist, is set to make inroads into the mid-displacement motorcycle segment, offering style, performance, and rideability.

New Triumph Thruxton 400: Spy Shots Confirm Imminent Launch

Excitement is building for the release of the Triumph Thruxton 400. Recent spy photographs, showing a seemingly production-ready model being used for a commercial, strongly indicate that this highly anticipated motorcycle will soon hit showrooms. This classic Café Racer, infused with modern features, is expected to be a significant player in the entry to mid-level motorcycle market, appealing to riders seeking a blend of iconic styling, engaging performance, and accessible handling. The 2025 model year promises to bring a fresh option for enthusiasts globally.

Triumph Thruxton 400: Café Racer Essence with a Modern Heart

There's no doubt that Triumph has hit the mark with the new Thruxton 400. Modeled after the iconic Thruxton 1200, this British motorcycle perfectly blends the distinctive essence of all its Modern Classic models with a balanced technical package. The latter is shared with the current Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, but Triumph's brand-new Café Racer boasts an added touch of sportiness thanks to a series of specific elements.

As can be seen from the unit captured in the photos, its design is very similar to the virtual renderings recently proposed by artist Pratyush Rout. Starting from the lines of its sibling Speed 400, Triumph has incorporated new clip-on handlebars, a front fairing (bikini fairing), and a rear seat cowl. Ergonomically, the footpegs appear slightly more rear-set compared to the naked variant, emphasizing the sporty riding position typical of Café Racers.

Style Details and Quality Componentry

Beyond the splendid color scheme that this Thruxton 400 sports – a mix of red and silver with a good portion of blacked-out components – the black finish of the stanchions on its inverted front fork stands out. The motorcycle is also equipped with a powerful Full-LED lighting system, ensuring visibility and a modern look, and an attractive side-mounted chrome exhaust pipe. These elements collectively contribute to a premium aesthetic and modern functionality, setting it apart in the entry-level classic segment.

Triumph Thruxton 400: Performance and Chassis Review

Technically, no significant changes are expected for the Thruxton 400 compared to the already well-regarded Speed 400. This means it will be equipped with the Euro5-compliant 398 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, featuring a DOHC (double overhead camshaft) cylinder head and four valves. This engine currently delivers a power output of 40 HP at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. This configuration promises a lively and responsive ride, ideal for those entering the world of classic sport motorcycles.

Regarding the Thruxton 400's chassis, we find the familiar tubular steel frame with a bolted rear subframe. Suspension duties are handled by a 43 mm inverted front fork and a rear monoshock with a separate reservoir. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels which, on the test unit, were equipped with Pirelli Diablo Rosso tires, a clear indication of its dynamic ambitions.

The braking system consists of a 300 mm front disc with a four-piston radial caliper and braided steel lines, and a 230 mm rear disc. Both are assisted by a dual-channel ABS system, ensuring safe and effective braking performance.

Technological equipment includes a Ride-by-wire electronic throttle, Traction Control, a hybrid instrument cluster (classic speedometer with integrated LCD screen), a USB-C port, and a slip-assist clutch – elements that enhance its safety and daily usability.

Price and Availability of the Triumph Thruxton 400 in Europe

According to Indian media, who reported the news first, the price of the Triumph Thruxton 400 is not expected to deviate much from that of its current siblings in the range. It is estimated to be priced around 260,000 Indian Rupees, which translates to approximately €2,570 at the current exchange rate in India. However, once the motorcycle is commercially available in Europe, the price is expected to settle around €5,500, making it one of the most attractive options in the accessible Café Racer segment. The Thruxton 400 is anticipated to be a strong contender for the 2025 model year.
