YAMAHA R9 2026 Test: Engine Performance and Top Speed
Top Speed
The real top speed of the Yamaha R9 2026 slightly exceeds 240 km/h. The bike reaches this speed with steady progression thanks to good aerodynamic profiling and well-judged final gearing.
Acceleration
The CP3 powerplant excels in standing starts and progression over the first 400 meters. The torque available from the mid-range allows for lightning-fast corner exits.
Engine Smoothness and On-Off Effect
The power delivery is fluid. The on-off effect, present in some previous versions of the 890cc engine, has been almost entirely eliminated through more refined ECU mapping.
Sixth Gear Recovery
The engine picks up without hesitation even from low revs (approx. 2,500-3,000 rpm) in sixth gear, making the ride less stressful compared to a four-cylinder of the same displacement.
