YAMAHA R9 2026 Test: Ergonomics and Ride Comfort

Rider

The riding position is clearly sporty, characterized by a forward-leaning torso and noticeable weight on the wrists, though less extreme than on an R6. The seat-footpeg-handlebar triangulation allows for millimeter precision during dynamic riding.

Aerodynamic Protection

The windscreen offers just enough protection. At high speeds, it is necessary to tuck behind the plexiglass to avoid excessive turbulence on the helmet, a typical trait of modern middleweight supersports.

Vibrations

The CP3 three-cylinder engine is inherently balanced. Vibrations are virtually non-existent at street-legal speeds, appearing only minimally near the rev limiter without ever becoming annoying.

Heat

Thermal management is optimal. Even during prolonged urban use, the heat released by the engine is never excessive for the rider, testifying to a careful study of airflow.

Passenger

Despite not being a tourer, the accommodation for the passenger is less sacrificial than on the R1. However, the seat remains high and precarious, making two-up travel suitable only for short distances.
