2027 Honda CB500: Retro Preview, Price, Release, and Performance

Quick Specifications

    Engine: 501cc Air/Oil-Cooled Single-Cylinder

    Power & Torque: 27 HP / 43.3 Nm

    Top Speed: ~150 km/h

    Segment: Retro Mid-Size Motorcycle

Introduction: The Return of the Big Single

There was a time when large-displacement, air-cooled single-cylinder motorcycles represented a cornerstone of the global motorcycling landscape, particularly in key markets like India where iconic models made history. Ever since several of those milestones went out of production, no manufacturer has completely filled that void.

This is precisely where the brand-new Honda CB500 steps in. Officially unveiled, the CB500 features a 501cc air- and oil-cooled single-cylinder engine inspired by the legendary CB750, blending vintage charm with modern engineering solutions.

Engine and Performance: The Power of Mid-Range Torque

The new Honda CB500 relies on an all-new 501cc air- and oil-cooled single-cylinder engine capable of delivering 27 HP and a robust 43.3 Nm of torque, managed by a 5-speed gearbox.

While the horsepower figure remains accessible and manageable, the torque output is remarkably surprising, coming remarkably close to much larger twin-cylinder competitors like the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.

Chassis, Tech, and Equipment

On the hardware and technological front, the equipment bridges tradition and modernity seamlessly:

Classic Chassis: Traditional telescopic front fork, dual rear shock absorbers, and disc brakes on both wheels.

Safety Electronics: Equipped with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and a slip-assist clutch.

Connectivity: Hybrid analog-digital instrument cluster featuring the Honda RoadSync smartphone management system.

Three-Variant Lineup

Honda has confirmed that the CB500 will be offered in three distinct versions to satisfy riders seeking retro style and substance:

Standard Version: Equipped with alloy wheels.

Mid-Tier Variant: Featuring cross-spoke wheels with tubeless tires.

Top-Tier Version: Premium model with tubeless spoke wheels and exclusive dedicated graphics.

Price, Top Speed, and Market Availability

Official pricing has not yet been announced, but localized production points to an aggressively competitive positioning in the retro mid-size segment. The stated goal is to challenge and potentially dent the market dominance of direct rivals such as the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the BSA Gold Star 650, offering a vintage alternative backed by Honda's reliability and modern technology.

Official news regarding the European market is still pending, but industry expectations suggest a potential presentation at EICMA 2026, with an estimated price tag in Italy staying just below €6,000. Expected top speed rests at approximately 150 km/h.
