Three Cylinders, 114 HP, and a Shock Price: The 2026 ZXMoto 820X Changes Everything and Is Ready to Challenge European Rivals

China’s challenge to motorcycle industry giants has taken its most aggressive step yet. Just ten months after its initial debut as a concept model at EICMA, ZXMoto has filed official homologation paperwork for the production-ready 2026 820X. The triple-cylinder crossover moves past prototype status into full production trim, positioned to disrupt a market segment historically dominated by established European and Japanese brands.

The headline figure driving heated discussion across industry forums centers on retail pricing: in its domestic market, the motorcycle will debut at 48,000 yuan—approximately €6,100 at current exchange rates—with a complete three-piece aluminum hard luggage set included as standard equipment.

Express Technical Specifications

Engine Architecture: 819 cc inline 3-cylinder (derived from the 820RR Supersport platform)

    Power / Torque Output: 114 HP (85 kW) / >85 Nm

    Top Speed: 220 km/h (136.7 mph)

    Chassis & Wheels: Cross-spoked tubeless rims; 19-inch front / 17-inch rear (120/70 R19 - 170/60 R17)

Dry Weight: 218 kg (480.6 lbs)

    Estimated Italian Market Price (Euro 5+): €8,500 – €9,500 (on-the-road estimate)

Design & Chassis: Why It Abandoned the 21-Inch Front Wheel

Images accompanying the homologation patents reveal a deliberate strategic shift: ZXMoto elected to trade hard-enduro off-road capability for road-focused adventure touring.

Twisty Road Agility: Moving away from the concept’s 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel layout, the production model features a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear setup. This configuration mirrors benchmark models such as the BMW F 900 GS ADV and Triumph Tiger 900 GT, optimizing high-speed stability on highways and quick direction changes through mountain passes.

Redesigned Front End: The dual stacked headlights of the prototype have been replaced. The final production version features an integrated front fairing housing side-by-side Full-LED lighting assemblies and a revised aerodynamic beak engineered to minimize high-speed wind turbulence.

Touring Protection: A heavy-duty aluminum skid plate protects the headers of the three-cylinder engine, working alongside lateral engine crash bars integrated directly into the main frame structure.

Sporting Heart: 114 HP to Challenge Yamaha and Triumph

Underneath the bodywork lies the project's central highlight: an 819 cc inline-three engine paired with a 6-speed transmission and a bi-directional quickshifter. Derived directly from the powerplant used in the 820RR World Supersport machine, the engine has been retuned to deliver a broader mid-range torque curve.

Pushing out 114 HP and reaching a top speed of 220 km/h, the ZXMoto 820X positions itself above price-point rivals like the CFMoto 800MT or Benelli TRK 702, bringing performance output directly into Yamaha Tracer 9 territory.

Tester's Note (Crazywheels): Estimated European Pricing

"While the domestic price of approximately €6,100 with included hard luggage represents extraordinary value, European market expectations require realistic adjustments. Factoring in Euro 5+ homologation costs, import duties, logistics, and local VAT, an estimated Italian entry price between €8,500 and €9,500 is realistic.

Even within this adjusted price band, the 2026 ZXMoto 820X would represent a disruptive alternative: a 114 HP crossover priced alongside 70 HP twin-cylinder middleweights."

Launch Timeline and European Debut

The official European debut is scheduled for EICMA 2026, where final electronic package details—including a 6-axis IMU, Cornering ABS, and selectable engine mapping—will be officially presented. Initial showroom deliveries across European markets are anticipated for early 2027.
