GPS telemetry in hand: discover the real performance of the Yamaha Ténéré 700. True maximum speed, 0-100 times, roll-on, and braking distances.

AT A GLANCE: THE QUICK SUMMARY

Telemetry Analysis: Real-world performance metrics captured via GPS equipment on the Yamaha Ténéré 700.

Top Speed: Real GPS-verified maximum speed of 185.3 km/h (around 190 km/h indicated on the dashboard).

Acceleration: 0-100 km/h completed in 4.70 seconds, standing 400 meters in 13.10 seconds.

Braking: Stopping distance from 100 to 0 km/h measured at 40.1 meters, prioritizing off-road modulation over aggressive asphalt bite.

Real Top Speed (GPS Measurement)

Motorcycle speedometers always tend to "lie" by overestimating, and the Ténéré is no exception. When the digital display shows an indicated 190 km/h, GPS telemetry captures the actual reality:

    True Maximum Speed: 185.3 km/h

Speedometer Error: Around 4–5% at higher speeds.

This is a very respectable value for an off-road twin-cylinder, confirming the effectiveness of the CP2 engine when stretching sixth gear on a highway or track. Naturally, beyond 130–140 km/h, the aerodynamic protection of the stock windscreen exposes the helmet to air pressure, making a taller aftermarket plexiglass screen advisable for long trips.

Acceleration and Roll-On: Chronographed Times

Thanks to the excellent grip offered by the rear wheel and robust power delivery starting from low revs, standing-start measurements show remarkable verve:

    0 - 100 km/h: 4.70 seconds.

400-meter acceleration (standing start): Exactly 13.10 seconds.

1000-meter acceleration (standing start): 25.00 seconds, with an exit speed exceeding 160 km/h.

The sixth-gear roll-on test (starting from 50 km/h) highlights the extraordinary elasticity of the CP2:

    400-meter roll-on (from 50 km/h in 6th): 13.1 seconds.

    1000-meter roll-on (from 50 km/h in 6th): 25.2 seconds.

These data confirm that the engine responds to throttle openings without hesitation or transmission snatch, allowing tight twisties and touring to be handled with minimal gear shifting.

Braking Distances and Deceleration

The braking system, designed to favor modulation in the dirt, yields stopping distances consistent with the category and the bike's mass (approximately 198 kg wet):

    Braking distance (from 100 km/h to 0): 40.1 meters.

Chronometric and metric feedback confirms the perception of a system that does not aim for "hard track biting" on asphalt. Initial lever travel is purposely progressive: a technical choice that prevents immediate front wheel lockup on low-grip surfaces, but requires very firm pressure on the lever when emergency braking or hard stopping is attempted on dry asphalt.
