The Aspar Team riders, satisfied with the pace and good feelings in the Losail circuit

Aron Canet and Hafizh Syahrin have completed a second day of testing in which both have continued to improve their lap times and their feelings. The Spanish rider has finished seventh, while Syahrin has been eleventh, on a day in which there are up to fifteen riders separated by less than a second. The differences are minimum and the Aspar Team riders have ended just five and seven tenths off the best time of the day, established by Jorge Martín (1:58.665).

Canet has lived a day of contrasts, with two sessions in which he has felt a bit lost in his process of adapting to the category, and a final one in which he has returned to the base set-up of his Speed Up and has managed to improve yesterday’s time by six tenths. The Valencian rider is happy with his race pace: half of his almost twenty laps in that last round have been below 2:00. His teammate Hafizh Syahrin has also closed the day confident on his pace and satisfied after having achieved his lap time with a used tyre.

7th Aron Canet 1:59.220 (+0.565, 53 laps): “In the morning tried several things and I got lost, because I am not yet made to the category. We have also found a soft front tyre that has not worked properly. We have returned to the standard set-up and still have achieved a 1:59.2 with a used tyre and pushing alone. I have a good pace; the only problem is that in the last session we found another rear tyre that has not given us the benefits we expected. I have tried again with a 20-laps used one and I felt more comfortable. Tomorrow we will try to keep improving.”

11th Hafizh Syahrin 1:59.377 (+0.722, 47 laps): “In general, we can be happy with this second day, because we have made our best time with the used tyre and everyone else has done it with a new one. We could have improved as well, but our tyre had no grip, it was something strange. We are not far from the leaders. I will continue working and trying to improve a little more tomorrow. We have a strong race pace; I think we are ready for the weekend.”
