PIAGGIO LIBERTY 125 S 2026 Test Braking and traction control
The braking system of the Liberty 125 S is a mixed setup. At the front, a single 240 mm steel disc is clamped by a Nissin twin-parallel-piston floating caliper. This brake is assisted by a single-channel Bosch ABS system acting exclusively on the front wheel. Modulation at the right lever is good, allowing precise stopping force prior to anti-lock intervention, which exhibits perceptible but never destabilizing pulses through the lever.
At the rear is a traditional 140 mm mechanical drum brake commanded via flexible cable by the left lever. This control demands high physical effort to generate consistent deceleration, and the lever throw tends to lengthen quickly with brake shoe wear, necessitating frequent manual adjustments via the thumb nut located on the drum linkage. There is no electronic traction control system (ASR), a technical choice linked to the modest power outputs of the vehicle, which do not induce wheelspin on dry tarmac.
