Analysis of the New KTM 790 Duke 2027

The middleweight naked segment is set to receive a significant update with the introduction of the new KTM 790 Duke. Although the 2026 model is still listed with the previous aesthetics, recent homologation documents filed with authorities in China confirm the arrival of a deeply renewed version, scheduled for its commercial debut as a 2027 model year.

The vehicle's production remains entrusted to the industrial partnership between KTM and the Chinese giant CFMoto, a collaboration that continues to strengthen despite changes in the corporate structure of the Austrian group.
Aesthetics and Design: The New KTM "Front End"

The most striking element of discontinuity from the past is the design of the front optical unit. The new KTM 790 Duke adopts the stylistic language already introduced on its larger siblings, such as the 990 Duke and the 1390 Super Duke R.

Central Projector: A single central LED element serves as the main headlight.

Daytime Running Lights (DRL): A peripheral LED frame defines the vehicle's light signature.

Bodywork: The tank shrouds feature sharper, more aggressive lines, contributing to a more modern and muscular overall aesthetic.

Technical Innovations: Chassis and WP Brakes

One of the most relevant technical updates emerging from the homologation documents concerns the braking system. KTM appears intent on vertically integrating components, switching from previous systems (Brembo, Bybre, or J.Juan) to the new WP Braking Systems.
Braking System and ABS

Following its debut on the 390 Duke series, WP-branded brake calipers are becoming the standard for the 790 Duke as well. Electronic braking management remains entrusted to the Bosch ABS 9.3MP system, ensuring continuity in terms of active safety.
Frame and Suspension

The main steel trellis frame remains substantially unchanged, but there is the introduction of a deeply modified die-cast aluminum rear subframe. The rear swingarm also features a revised shape. Regarding the suspension department, WP Suspension units (upside-down fork and monoshock) are confirmed.
Weight and LC8c Engine Performance

The filed specifications indicate an optimization of the overall mass. The new KTM 790 Duke claims a curb weight of 185 kg, a reduction of 2 kg compared to the current version (187 kg).
Engine Specifications

The 799 cc LC8c parallel-twin engine, already compliant with Euro 5+ regulations, does not undergo drastic structural changes. Declared performance varies depending on the destination market:
Specification Chinese Market European Market (Expected)
Max Power 105 HP (77 kW) 95 HP (70 kW)
Torque Approx. 87 Nm Approx. 87 Nm
A2 Compatibility No Yes (restrictable to 35 kW)

In Europe, it is highly likely that the 95 HP threshold will be maintained to allow for legal power restriction for A2 license holders.
Market Forecast and Pricing

Considering that the current 2026 model is already present in official channels with the "Split-Face" design, the launch of the new version is expected between late 2026 and early 2027.

From an economic standpoint, no drastic shifts from the current positioning are anticipated. In Italy, the list price stands at approximately €8,590 (excluding registration costs), a figure that should serve as a reference for the new model, barring adjustments related to inflation or new electronic equipment packages.
