Ergonomics and Riding Comfort
Rider: The Z1100 offers a sporty but not excessively fatiguing position. The handlebar has been widened by 22 mm and moved forward by 13 mm compared to the past to improve leverage and control. The seat height of 815 mm makes it accessible, although riders taller than 180 cm may feel the footpegs are slightly too close to the seat. The Z900 feels overall slimmer and lighter between the legs.
Aerodynamic Protection: Typical for supernakeds, protection is minimal. The Z1100 features a forward-slanted front end that deflects some airflow, but it remains a bike designed for unfaired use.
Vibrations: The Z1100 excels due to the absence of annoying vibrations, thanks to the excellent engine balancing inherited from the SX series.
Heat: Despite the large displacements, thermal management showed no particular issues during testing, although the four-cylinder engines tend to dissipate noticeable heat in urban environments.
Passenger: Space for a pillion is limited. On the Z1100, the raised seat acts more as a buttress for the rider during heavy acceleration than as comfortable support for a passenger.
