2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT Build Quality Analysis

While the 2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT does not feature particularly sophisticated technical solutions and its price continues to increase, the components present are well-executed. All visible elements are well-crafted, not overly complex, but aesthetically pleasing. Even the gear shifter and rear brake controls, often neglected, are far from cheap (there are much worse alternatives), as are the rest of the finishes.

The instrumentation, though perhaps slightly small, is comprehensive and visually appealing, featuring LED lighting and well-designed handlebar controls. The new seat and the large windscreen are excellent additions. It is undeniable that the Tracer 7 GT is well-built without being excessively expensive. For its equipment level and overall completeness, it remains an excellent motorcycle, perfectly suited for two-up touring.

2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT Ergonomics and Riding Comfort Review

The Yamaha Tracer 7 GT is compact and nimble, undoubtedly perfect for shorter riders. However, for riders over 180cm (5'11"), the motorcycle may feel small. For individuals around 170cm (5'7"), the riding position is excellent and comfortable, with intuitive and easily accessible controls that are soft to operate. Aerodynamic protection is good.

While not a true GT (Grand Tourer), the riding comfort of the Tracer 7 GT is notably high. The passenger is accommodated equally well. Vibrations are noticeable but not bothersome, and engine noise is contained, completing an undeniably positive overall impression.

2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT Suspension Performance Review

The Yamaha Tracer 7 GT 2025 features a soft front fork and a rear shock absorber that is slightly stiff and less adept at absorbing bumps. The suspension setup is merely adequate and arguably the least convincing aspect of the motorcycle. While sufficient for solo touring use, the suspension quickly reveals its limitations when riding fully loaded or during aggressive sport riding.

It is possible to adjust the suspension to improve its sporty characteristics, though an ideal setup is not truly achievable. Within this price range, the suspension performance is in line with other competitors. For superior performance, a higher investment is required.

2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT Braking System and Traction Control Review

The braking performance of the Yamaha Tracer 7 GT is effective, though partially limited by abrupt fork dive. The ABS system tends to engage somewhat prematurely, but braking safety and stopping distances remain consistently strong. The rear brake also performs well.

The traction control system is conservative, but given the motorcycle's power, it only intervenes when necessary. In conclusion, the Tracer 7 GT features a good braking system, comparable to other competitors in its price and performance bracket.

2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT Engine Performance and Top Speed Review

The 2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT engine is smooth from low RPMs, delivers good torque in the mid-range, and extends well into high RPMs. Among mid-displacement twin-cylinder engines, it is one of the most successful, combining low-end smoothness with mid-range torque and high-end pull. However, to ride aggressively, it needs to be kept in the mid to high RPM range.

The true top speed of the Tracer 7 GT is just over 190 km/h (118 mph). Only with a very long run-up and optimal conditions can it barely touch 200 km/h (124 mph), which is more a matter of luck than the bike's consistent capability. Power output remains unchanged, but increased weight and frontal area make it genuinely challenging, almost impossible, to exceed 190 km/h, especially with a passenger. Nevertheless, touring at 130 km/h (81 mph) is effortless.

Compared to direct competitors of the latest generation, the Tracer 7 GT lacks 10 to 15 horsepower, a significant difference noticeable above 150 km/h (93 mph). At these speeds, competitors continue to accelerate, while the Tracer 7 GT's acceleration tends to diminish. While the engine remains suitable for city and touring use, its lack of power compared to recent releases is felt during sporty riding. This results in a power deficit on fast roads, in mountainous terrain, and when fully loaded.

The Yamaha Tracer 7 GT engine remains an excellent example of efficient and effective mechanical design. However, its core project has not been substantially updated for too long, and today, especially Suzuki and Honda, offer similarly sized engines that are significantly more powerful and efficient. Despite this, the engine is perfectly suited for the motorcycle's sport touring nature.

2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT Gearbox and Clutch Functionality Review

The clutch on the Yamaha Tracer 7 GT is exceptionally soft and easy to operate. The gearbox is equally fast, precise, and fluid. Gear spacing is appropriate, with no notable issues; the transmission system is excellent overall.

2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT Handling, Stability, and Safety Features Review

The Yamaha Tracer 7 GT 2025 is incredibly easy to use in the city and excels on winding roads. When the pace increases, the limitations of the suspension and engine become apparent, but up to a certain point, the motorcycle is genuinely competitive, fun, and always safe.

When ridden with a passenger, the Tracer 7 GT suffers from a suboptimal setup for these conditions, again due to the suspension. However, when riding solo, it offers considerable satisfaction. Maneuverability and ease of handling are certainly not lacking; mountain roads are very enjoyable with minimal riding effort.

However, if high performance is sought, the front fork becomes too soft, the shock absorber tends to bounce over bumps rather than absorbing them, and the braking could be more aggressive with a less intrusive ABS. Outside of uses for which it is not primarily designed, it is a truly pleasant motorcycle to ride. It remains stable even on fast roads.

This is a great motorcycle that excels in medium-range touring, city riding, and fast-paced (but not aggressively sporty) riding on winding roads.

2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT Fuel Consumption Review

In our test with the 2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT, we observed an average fuel consumption of approximately 17 km/liter (40 MPG US / 48 MPG UK). It is easy to achieve better results by riding more conservatively, and difficult to drop below 15 km/l (35 MPG US / 42 MPG UK); it is certainly not a thirsty motorcycle.

2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT Conclusions: Pros and Cons

The 2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT reaffirms the excellent characteristics that have contributed to its success thus far. Its main strength lies in its value for money, especially given its overall performance and handling attributes, in addition to having few other direct competitors. In fact, only the Kawasaki Versys can be considered a direct rival.

This is a good motorcycle for beginners, for those returning to motorcycling, and for those seeking a versatile and economically manageable vehicle. While it may not be at the pinnacle of power, quality, or outright performance, it remains a well-built and accessible motorcycle for many riders. The 2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT is a mature, capable, and practical motorcycle that, while not a head-turner, stands as one of the best choices in its category.
